Enrollment of New Learners

Saint Mary’s Orthodox College prioritizes the applicant's personal aptitude and the willingness of parents to participate positively in this educational process.

  • Learners are enrolled regardless of their religion, race and socio-economic status; nevertheless, the Greek Orthodox families are encouraged to enroll their children according to the general admission policy.
  • Learners with special needs and with learning difficulties are accepted, provided that the Learning Support Department can cater for their needs with reference to set school’s norms of readiness and capacity.

Application Procedure

  • Parents of applicants are invited to visit the school website www.smoc.edu.lb and fill the online application form or to pass by the Registrar's Office for the same purpose.
  • Applications should be supplemented with the following documents:
    • A copy of the applicant's identity card or passport.
    • A passport size photo.
    • An official certificate of promotion from applicant’s previous school, endorsed by the Ministry of Education.
    • A report detailing the applicant's grades during the last year of schooling.
    • A copy of the applicant's vaccination card (for preschool applicants).
  • Applications are reviewed according to vacancies in the school:
    • Children of Alumni and other applicants whose siblings are enrolled in Saint Mary’s Orthodox College are given priority to apply. Yet, their acceptance remains bounded by the admission conditions.
    • When applicants have siblings enrolled at Saint Mary’s Orthodox College, the evaluation of the siblings' status at school (academic and behavioral) becomes a criterion to be considered when studying their applications.
  • Once the application is completed, parents and the applicant are interviewed by the concerned Head of Division.
  • Depending on the results of the interview, the applicant to the Grade 1 and above classes is allowed to sit for entrance exams.

Registration Procedure

The school's administration communicates its decision (acceptance or rejection) to the parents in writing, within five working days following the date of the interview (Preschool Division) / entrance exams (Grade 1 and above).

  • Within ten days of the reception of the acceptance letter, parents of the accepted applicant should pass by the Registrar’s Office for registration formalities.
  • Application and registration fees are neither refundable (to applicants who decide not to enroll) nor transferable to any sibling or relative already enrolled at school; however, the registration fee is deducted from the third payment of the school's tuition fees.
